Rosemary Olas leads a panel discussion with UCM experts on the many opportunities available to students as they consider higher education. They will offer guidance on making the transition from high school to college easy as possible, in addition to providing information for individuals returning to college from the workforce or military.

To call in during the show, the toll-free number to use is 800-753-3436. You may also send your questions to live@kmos.org. Our panel is comprised of several university professionals who can answer your questions about admissions, financial aid and other aspects of the university experience.

Angela Karlin

Angela Karlin has served as the Director of Student Financial Assistance Prior to joining UCMís staff in May 2012, Karlin served as director of financial aid for Rockhurst College and has worked in higher education for 18 years. She holds a masterís degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas.

Deborah Turnbow

Deborah Turnbow is the University of Central Missouri's Scholarships and Awards Officer. She administers the UCM Scholarship Program and oversees the distribution of state-funded assistance, such as the Bright Flight Scholarship, to qualifying UCM students. Prior to joining the UCM Office of Student Financial Services in 2001, she was a member of the UCM Office of Admissions team. Turnbow has served as an adjunct instructor for UCMís Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies and is a UCM alumna.

Delilah Nichols

Delilah Nichols Coordinator, Office of Military and Veteran Services. Nichols serves as staff liaison for our campus in assisting active duty military service members, their spouses and dependents, and our veteran students. The Center provides a location for our military and veteran students to study individually or as groups, access computer work stations with CAC readers, as well as direct access to dedicated staff to assist you with your needs. Nichols was appointed by University President Charles Ambrose in January 2011 to head up UCM's military and veterans presidential service initiative and was responsible for the creation of the Military and Veterans Success Center.

Megan Snow

Megan Snow UCM Admissions Representative. Since joining the department in 2011, Snow visits local high schools to provide students with a seamless transition from high school to college. She holds a bachelorís degree in Speech Communication from UCM and is in her final semester of UCMís MBA program.

Rosemary Olas

Rosemary Olas Interim director of broadcasting, retired. She has hosted this call-in program since it was launched in 2005, covering a variety of current issues and informative topics. Olas, a Vietnam veteran, has had a diverse career that includes teaching in Missouri public schools, owning a catering service, managing development and community outreach.




Countdown to UCM I
The first edition of Countdown to UCM aired in February 2011, with information and advice to prospective students and their families. Rosemary Olas led a panel in a discussion on planning and financing a college education. Representatives from UCM answered viewer questions about requirements for admissions, opportunities for scholarships and financial aid.

President Ambrose opened the program with an invitation to viewers to learn about the educational opportunities offered by UCM on the show and in person. He then joined representatives from the offices of financial aid and admissions in taking viewer calls. Previous presentations of KMOS Live covered the topics of domestic violence, changes in Medicare, digital television transition, family farm life.
